Yoga & Beauty Tips

Feeling Yoga
by John Carson

JustinI don't know if there is a sanskrit word for it but I believe that the simple act of feeling is the quintessential technique and benefit of a yoga practice - any yoga practice. Yoga offers up the opportunity to feel deeper, more open, alive, and connected. Yoga is a practice of direct felt experience - with everything. In any moment we can feel and contain the presence of our inner divine being, the fullness of life and the stretching of our form. Feeling holds, integrates and harmonizes the diverse elements of a yoga experience together. Shakti and Shiva, ground and sky, inhale and exhale, muscle and bone meet and meld in the realm of feeling. Feeling is limitless and boundless and at the same time it is the greatest of all locks or bandhas. Feeling is the maha bandha or master seal.

We cannot think about feeling, we can only feel it. This does not mean that we don’t think, but rather we align and amplify thought with feeling. Feeling can take us out of our spinning/chattering heads and into our hearts. The door to awakening the heart and coming alive is through feeling. It is the heart’s intelligence and means of communication. The heart and the corresponding anahata chakra is the nerve center that encompasses feeling for another human being, feeling for oneself, feeling for the earth, feeling for God and feeling for truth. Reclaiming our ability to feel energy, consciousness, our bodies, emotions, each other, or our purpose is clearly the next step in human evolution. Our ability to chart our evolutionary course through the intelligence of feeling will perhaps determine the fate of human life on this planet. Yoga practices have the potential to assist this process. The choice is clearly our own. To feel or not to feel..….

"All these yogic postures bring intelligence to flow in the system like a river as a single unit. Then the mind, the self, the body, they all unite together... To awaken the intelligence of the body, one must keep the essence and foundation principles, then explore using the "human feeling" approach..."
