Continuing Education ~ Course Description
Saturday 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.- 4 p.m. In this 20 hour course we will delve into the Sanskrit alphabet to learn its sacred sounds. The Sanskrit language has been called “the language of the Gods” by the great saints and sages of the Indian subcontinent, and is the very cornerstone of our yoga heritage as we know it today. We will explore the sacred text, The Bhagavad Gita, (meaning "Song of God" in Sanskrit ), also more simply known as Gita. This sacred Hindu scripture is considered among the most important texts in the history of literature and philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita comprises roughly seven hundred verses, and is a part of the Mahabharata. The teacher of the Bhagavad Gita is Krishna, who is revered by Hindus as a manifestation of God himself, and is referred to within as Bhagavan, the Divine One. While learning the elegant and powerful message of the Gita we will have a chance to practice chanting in the original Sanskrit! Individual Workshop Payment Plan Options are available as well.
