Continuing Education ~ Course Description
Friday 6-9 p.m. Restorative Yoga has become a practice for the modern age. More and more, yoga students are discovering the beauty and grace of this intense, but gentle method of relieving the pain caused by physical and energetic stagnation. Restorative yoga is often associated with healing from diseases, as it is a practice done with the use of props instead of muscular tension to maintain alignment in the poses. Restorative poses help relieve the effects of chronic stress in a myriad of ways. Learn how to safely sequence a restorative practice which will include inverted poses. Inverted poses reverse the effects of gravity. Many of us stand or sit most of the day and so blood and lymph fluid accumulate in the lower half of the body. By reversing the relationship of the legs to gravity, fluids are returned to the upper body and heart function is enhanced. Restorative yoga alternately stimulates and soothes our internal organs. With this movement of blood comes the enhanced exchange of oxygen and waste products across the cell membrane. In this course, we will learn the basic 'body of work' that the restorative practice entails. The use of various props that will allow deep relaxation to occur, as well as learning the techniques for communicating this to others. Restorative sequences are designed to move the spine in every direction and thus anatomical discussions are an integral aspect of the principles of restorative yoga. Individual Workshop Payment Plan Options are available as well. Please contact the manager of our Danforth Avenue location at 416.461.6161 or Toll Free 1.866.903.9642. About Hali Schwartz
