Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Refining Your Guidance

various lineages including: A Certificate is granted upon satisfactory completion of the course.

Requirements: Successful completion of a recognized Yoga Teacher Training course and/or 3 years teaching experience. Consent may be given by one of the faculty for those serious students who wish to deepen their understanding of yoga and do not necessarily want to teach. To register for the whole program please fill out our online registration form. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 will be required to secure your spot. Please note that for those who have completed The Yoga Sanctuary 250 Hour Teacher Training, this 250 Hour Advanced Teacher Training qualifies you for a 500 hour Yoga Alliance RYT certification. Each student who enrolls in this Advanced Teacher Training will be required to participate in 190 contact hours as well as 60 hours (33 classes) of assisting. Cost: $3,875 plus GST Includes 250 hours of the training plus 80 yoga classes to be used at either location. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 will be required to secure your spot. Full payment is required by Monday, September 8, 2008.

CYNTHIA FUNK: Cynthia is the co-owner of The Yoga Sanctuary. She received her Yoga Teacher Training Certificate at Yoga Works in Los Angeles, studying under the tutelage of Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Eddie Modestini and Erich Schiffmann. Cynthia began teaching in the greater Toronto area in 1997, teaching in public schools, hospitals, private and public gyms, as well as leading retreats on Ward's Island and in Northern Ontario. In 2000, Cynthia studied in New York City and Boulder, Colorado with Ashtanga guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. That same year she completed an Ashtanga Teacher Training with David Swenson. As well, Cynthia studied extensively with Toronto teacher Esther Myers. She has been blessed to have studied with many of the other senior Ashtanga Yoga teachers in North America. For the past 5 years Cynthia has taught The Yoga Sanctuary, Yoga Teacher Training 250 hour courses. KARUSIA WROBLEWSKI: Karusia has been practicing yoga for over thirty years. She is also a graduate of the York University dance department and is a specialist in dance prayer. She has been teaching yoga and movement for fourteen years to people of all ages and abilities. She has a particular interest in the healing and transformational aspects of yoga and works with therapeutic yoga in her private practice. She continues her yoga therapy studies through the Rocky Mountain School of Yoga and Ayurveda (RMIYA) in Boulder, Colorado, and is a devoted student of Baba Hari Dass. KAREN COVE: Karen has been very fortunate to study with Doug Swenson, Darby, Hart Lazar, Ron Reid, David Swenson, Jonathan Austman as well as The Yoga Sanctuary's very own Cynthia Funk. Karen received her teacher training with The Yoga Sanctuary, and has since completed a Pre-Natal Yoga Teacher Training with Cynthia Funk, and a Sadhana Yoga Chi Teacher Training Program with Doug Swenson. HALI SCHWARTZ: Hali Schwartz has been practicing Hatha Yoga for 12 years as well as studying yoga philosophy, Sanskrit and yogic chanting since 1988. The course of her studies has focused strongly on the ancient Sanskrit language; the various yoga scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga Sutra; as well as chanting from the Vedas, Upanishads, and the verses from the above mentioned yoga texts. Hali has also had the opportunity to find her way into the study, practice, and teaching of Hatha Yoga through some excellent teacher training instruction in the Sivananda and Bihar schools of Hatha Yoga in Kerala, India where she travelled to in January of 2001, 2002 and and 2003. WADE IMRE MORISSETTE - Special Guest Teacher: Wade Imre Morissette was born in Ottawa, Canada, just minutes before his twin sister Alanis. The twins took to music at an early age; Wade studied piano as a child and took on guitar and djembe in his teens, but their paths diverged when Wade began to study yoga. Wade has been practicing and teaching yoga for 13 years. He has completed Iyengar, Classical Ashtanga and Ashtanga-Vinyasa yoga teacher training. He has studied Vinyasa, Viniyoga, Anusara, and Kriya yoga, as well as zazen, Vedic Chanting, and active movement and sound meditations with some of the best-known teachers in Canada, North America, and India. He is also a Reiki master, certified Phoenix Rising yoga therapist, and Viniyoga Therapist. He leads teacher trainings, workshops, retreats, and music-dance evenings internationally. He is currently working on his first book, Living Your Joy, and planning a series of motivational seminars. CORA WEN - Special Guest Teacher: Cora took refuge in the Buddha over 30 years ago at age 13 and has been committed to practicing Yoga to develop compassion and joy since 1995. After a stressful Ivy League education and fervent career as Vice President of a bank, she left corporate America finding her passion in yoga, and has been leading workshops and retreats internationally since 1998. Featured in many regional newspapers and magazines, Cora has attained Experienced RYT500 status with Yoga Alliance and is one of the first Advanced Relax and Renew Trainers of Restorative Yoga. Many students have discovered the complimentary path of meditation with yoga practice through Cora's passionate and enthusiastic guidance. |
