Yoga Teacher Training in Oakville
|
Please fill out our online application form.
Since 2008 The Yoga Sanctuary has been a Certified Private Educational Institute with the federal government. We are a fully accredited Yoga Teacher Training school. This 250 hour Yoga Teacher Training is registered and recognized with Yoga Alliance RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) of the United States and the 200 hour Canadian Yoga Alliance CYT (Certified Yoga Teacher). Our training program exceeds the requirements of both organizations.
Graduates will receive an official Tuition Fee and Education Textbook Credit receipt. If you want further information, see the Information for Students from Canada Revenue Agency, about Tuition, Education and Textbook amounts.
Within this teacher training you will explore a rich tradition associated with yoga practice and philosophy. It will serve as the foundational introduction to a myriad of topics within the living tradition that is yoga.
A cornerstone of the course comes from our awareness that a strong personal practice is the foundation for informative dynamic teaching. While it is a bonus to have some prior asana experience, we are happy to guide relatively “new to yoga” practitioners as well. Our faculty will help to streamline your practice from our deep knowledge and understanding of the poses.
Other YTT students with more experience, often have “aha” moments and strive to change the way they utilize their bodies and practice the poses. Everyone is unique and every “body” has its own history, (from broken bones, to rods in their bodies). Knowing this, our focus on personal development through self-practice is key. Our faculty will offer kinesthetic, auditory and visual teaching techniques in our attempt to reach, teach and inspire every YTT student as they embark on this transformative course.
The course will include the following topics:

Teaching Karma Classes

Teacher Training Faculty
KAREN
COVE: "Over and over again, I witness how yoga enhances our
own natural healing abilities. By practicing, we learn to listen, we become
more aware, and we learn how to respond. We begin to breathe easier, become
comfortable in our skin, live more peacefully, and deepen our connection
to the cosmos."
Karen combines an advanced understanding of anatomy and sequencing with
a deep compassion for her students. Her classes are designed with precision
and attention to detail, but her immense love of yoga creates an environment
that is fun and welcoming.
Karen completed her first yoga teacher training at the Yoga Sanctuary
and has gone on to complete more teacher training with teachers such as
Hart Lazer. She has been assisting Yoga Sanctuary co-director Cynthia
Funk with the College Studio's teacher training for five years. She is
part of the faculty for the Evolving Spirit 250 Hour Teacher Training
at the Danforth and Oakville Campuses as well as the 300 Hour Advanced
Teacher Training.
Janine
Woo: Janine, a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now
Ryerson University) in Computer Science, has been practicing Hatha yoga
since 1990. Janine discovered Ashtanga yoga in 1996 and it was "love"
with her first class! Janine's love for yoga has led her to travel to
study with many gifted teachers. She has studied with Eddie Modestini
and Nicki Doane, David Williams, Nancy Gilgoff and Lucy Martorella in
Hawaii and Sri Pattabhi Jois in Australia and David Swenson in Costa Rica.
Janine brings to her classes a commitment and love of the practice. She
knows yoga is the path of greater awareness. She leads class with compassion
but challenges her students. Janine also believes practice leads to theory,
but without practice, theory is academic.
