Recipes from Janine's Kitchen ~ March 2006 Recipe

Rice Fast
Difficulty: depends on your discipline but easy. Instructions are just long.
Duration: 5 days minimum, 10 days optimal

My healer friend extraordinaire, Jeannette Wayne gave me this Fast which she found to be effective for most of her clients. I have to admit, this is one that I haven't tried yet but having experience Jeannette's healing hands first hand, I know that this will be good for all of us. Jeannette does TCM, acupuncture, angelic healing, etc, etc.

Single food fasting is one of the best vacations your can give your body. Use either:

* Short Grain Brown Rice
* Jasmine Rice
* Barley
* Job's Tears
* Lentils

Any single vegetable or fruit is a nice fast as well. Make sure it's organic and that you have removed any green grains (toxic) before soaking and cooking. This seems to be most effective when you:

* Only eat 1-2 cups at a time.
* Be mindful when you are eating and only focus on eating.
* Chew each mouthful until it is smooth and liquidity.
* Wait 1 hour between servings
* Have a special fasting bowl (ceramic/pottery) that you let sit out in the sunlight and moonlight and that has been smudged and prayed over before using.

Drink lots of good, filtered water but not more than 15 minutes before eating or within 1/2 after eating or you will dilute your stomach and not digest your food as easily.

You may also have: cocoa powder - before bed, fresh basil 12-7pm, cinnamon 7am-2pm

Eat frequently but no more than once an hour, chew well and enjoy the calm connected feeling you will get! This fast can be used to reduce allergic reactions and to detect food sensitivities. To do this simply add one food a day after fasting for at least 5 days, while continuing with rice as your main staple.
