Breathe Deeply Often
Over
the years in various classes around holiday times
I have often quipped that yoga makes family gatherings
easier and after the holidays I've always had students
that completely agree. Throughout family get togethers
they practiced ujjayi breathing and centering techniques,
one women even practiced sun salutations on her
mothers front porch before opening the door.
At
the heart of it, yoga is about relationships, relating
to our self, others and the world around us. I personally
use the barometer of family meetings to see how
strong my yoga practice is. The interesting thing
about families is that we all know each other's
samskaras (habitual patterns) and we know how to
press the buttons to pull them off centre.
With
our continued practice we learn santosha (contentment)
the more content we are with ourselves, the less
apt we are to respond and to react in our habitual
ways. This holiday season breathe deeply often and
enjoy what is.

Inspiration

"Some
things you’re not letting happen right now
because the timing isn’t perfect for you.
Some you’re not letting happen because you
are very aware of where you are. But all things,
as they are happening, are happening in perfect
order. And if you will relax and begin saying, “Everything
in its perfect time. Everything is unfolding. And
I’m enjoying where I am now, in relationship
to where I’m going. Content where I am, and
eager for more,” that is the perfect vibrational
stance.."
