New Summer Schedule!
There
are a few exciting changes starting Monday, June 18th! At the
Yoga Sanctuary, we are always evolving and shifting. Thanks
to the suggestions of our students we are constantly creating
a better practice space.
Our
2pm College Street afternoon classes will now commence at 1:30
until 3:00pm. This allows the parents in our classes enough
time to pick their children up from school. WOW - what a good
change!
We
are also excited to announce that we have Daniel Tzar-Lacerda
teaching Zen Yoga on our College schedule. Zen Yoga is a combination
of Zen meditation, Hatha yoga and Chi Kung.
Check
out Daniel's classes on Monday from 1:30 to 3:00pm, Thursday
from 3:30 to 5:00pm and Sunday from 10:00 to 11:30am all at

Arm
and Hand Balancing
10 Hour Module @ Danforth
Friday,
July 6, 2007: 6:00pm-10:00pm
Saturday, July 7th , 2007 : 3:15pm-10:15pm
Co-taught by Cynthia Funk, Hali Schwartz and Karen Cove
This
module will focus on both self-practice and the art of refining
communication on how to teach the more advanced and challenging
arm and hand balances. Together we will learn to end our fear
of balancing the weight of our bodies on our hands, while learning
techniques for doing this safely. We will encourage our students
to feel just as confident while standing on their hands as on
their two feet.
We
will fly upside down to the sky!

Musings
by Archana
"The
path to salvation is as narrow and as difficult to walk as the
razor's
edge".
Often,
no mater how much I "practice", I find myself slipping.
Slipping back into "old familiar patterns". Patterns
of relating. Of being in relationship. And I know these patterns
well. It's a familiar groove. They are comfortable samskaras
in their dysfunctionality. Part of the process of liberation
from their tentacles, which reach through from one generation
to the next, is to recognize them. You have to be able to recognize
them otherwise you remain in denial. Asleep. Denial being the
first and most powerful defense mechanism. Denial wants to protect
and shield us from awakening to whatever those original wounds
were because it's just too painful otherwise. And so that is
denial. The fragile ego stays protected ... slumbering in unconsciousness,
comfortably numb. But we have to wake up and see what is not
obvious. Or else we are screwed up for life. And possibly the
next life and so on ...
And
these painful issues - working against the liberation of our
soul -
continually present themselves. Because, they are taskmasters
and powerful
tools of evolution. The evolution of our soul, and the evolution
of our
species. Yes?
Everyone
goes over the same stepping stones at some point in their journey.
It's when we keep slipping on the slimy rocks and falling into
the cesspool over and over again, that we fail to move forward.
To growth. To self-awareness and elevated levels of consciousness
- into the conscious awareness or awakening. SO? Ya fall off.
Then ya get right back up on the horse. And at some point lose
your attachment to the fall, eh? And eventually learn new ways
of being. And start slipping less and less and realize that
it is up to us to make the beautiful harmonic life of abundance
and joy that we deserve. That we all deserve. All sentient beings.
And that is the path.
And
karma is determined by the choices we make. And we make choices
each and every moment. And we learn to change the WAY we make
our choices. And we begin to recognize we are on a slippery
slope and start to chose "consciously" and with awareness.
And the power of the unresolved wounds, the unconscious samskaric
forces, which are dysfunctional and unenlightened and do not
serve, begin to reveal themselves. Part of the awakening is
knowing you are asleep. And learning to watch life unfold as
it were a dream,is nothing more than you projecting your unresolved
issues onto whatever you come into contact with.
It's
like asana yoga practice. Energy moves in equal yet opposite
directions. It is relatively chaotic and unstable at first,
until that polarity comes into CONSCIOUS alignment and the resultant
tensile strength inherent in all oppositions, is used to deepen
awareness and to grow. Like Arjuna is in the Bhagavad Gita ...
in the middle of opposition ... and seeking enlightenment.
And
so it is.

The
Face in the Mirror
"Our
inability to see beauty doesn’t suggest in the
slightest that beauty is not there. Rather, it suggests
that we are not looking carefully enough or with broad
enough perspective to see the beauty."
