Anusara Inspired Yoga
10 Hour Module @ Danforth ~ Taught by Michael Siddall
Saturday, January 27 & Sunday, January 28

Anusara means 'flowing with Grace, going with the flow, and following your heart'. Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara Yoga is a powerful hatha yoga system that unifies a Tantric philosophy of intrinsic Goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment.

This weekend will introduce John's elegant Anusara system of yoga that integrates the celebration of heart, universal principles of alignment and balanced action in the performance of asana. The weekend will also include the principles of the breath, meditation, postural sequencing, observation, verbal and physical adjustments and postural demonstration.

Film Screening of Awakening Kali &
Chanting to Celebrate Mid-Winter
at The College Street Yoga Sanctuary

Friday, February 2
7:00pm-10:00pm

Filmmaker and student of The Yoga Sanctuary, Andria Lynett, directed and produced this 15 minute documentary exploring an interpretation of puja through the Kali chanting circles that have occurred at The Yoga Sanctuary over the past 5 years.

One Love Puja

Puja is the act of deepening your devotional relationship with an aspect of the divine through invocations, prayers, songs, and rituals. An essential part of puja for the participant is making a personal spiritual connection from the heart. Most often that contact is facilitated through an object representing a divine image which is known as a 'murti'.

During puja, a murti or other symbol of the divine serves as a means of opening a relationship with higher forces, such as Ganesha, Shiva, Krishna, Kali or Devi. The framework of puja rituals is based in Hinduism and the essence of that belief system from the Vedas embraces the life force in all living things.

Please wear white, bring fruits, nuts or flowers and donations for the Tsunami House Building Project.

Happy New Year!

Great things are happening all the time. Anna Demetrakopoulos called to let us know that there where over 20 people at the ONE LOVE Puja on New Year's Eve at The Yoga Sanctuary and $213.00 was raised for the Tsunami Home-Building Project in South India coordinated by Amma (the hugging saint). For more info go to www.amma.org and then onto Humanitarian Activities. So far over 4,000 homes have been built, with volunteer labour. What a great way to ring in the New Year and help others do the same. Hope to see you at The ONE LOVE Puja on Friday, February 2.

And here's some food for thought for 2007. Most of us have already made our New Year's resolutions. We want to lose weight, de-clutter, be better organized eat healthier, etc. We start to think that somehow we are going to perfect ourselves and this can be a kind of subliminal attack against are real selves. It's a bit like saying, "If I lose this weight, then I'll be beautiful or if I meditate every day, I'll be much better person."

Are you standing still, just waiting to live your life once you have it all together? Does your inner voice say things like, "I'll take more yoga classes after I've lost some weight."

Hey if you are anything like us then you could wait forever! So why not just come as you are? As we learn to have compassion and gentleness and acceptance about ourselves, then we are able to have this same loving-kindness (metta) for those around us as well.

Namaste,
Cynthia and Kimberley
