COLLEGE PRE-REGISTERED COURSE YOGA BASICS FOR BEGINNERS Mondays ~ 6 weeks
During this course we will learn fundamentals such as proper breathing techniques, what physical alignment in our yoga poses really means, why yoga props can help in various poses and how to use them, and what to expect in a regular group class setting. We will learn a variety of postures so that those who feel they are lacking in flexibility and/or strength will learn how to work towards increasing both in their own bodies. These will be poses one can expect to see in a Hatha, Vinyasa or Ashtanga yoga class. Yoga is non-competitive, a great stress-reliever, a chance to relax and a way to add physical exercise to daily life. This course is open to a maximum of 12 students and time will be made for questions and answers. Class size limited ~ register early About Janet Irvine
Graduating in early 2004 from The Yoga Sanctuary's Yoga Teacher Training certification program, Janet began teaching right away. Having studied with teachers such as Cynthia Funk, Jonathan Austman, Hart Lazer, and most recently Felicia Pavlovic, amongst many others in smaller doses, Janet feels blessed to be involved in such a supportive environment. Yoga has brought her a new level of self-confidence and awareness; as well as the physical benefits of strength, endurance, focus and stability. Janet hopes to instill these things in her students and, to that end, tries to make her classes fun, safe, welcoming and inspiring. You can expect a vigorous class but with an emphasis on being true to yourself and gaining joy, not frustration, from your yoga practice.
